build your personal brand
Sometimes I feel lik I’m drowning in the constant information that overflows my mailbox, phone, computer. I am surrounded by smart people, brilliant ideas and inspiring books and articles. And even if I get inspired as, I also get tired and frustrated. My voice whispers:” what do I do to stand out in this flood of knowledge and competent creative people? Can I even do so?” I’m not sure, but I do know one thing will keep trying. Many of my texts are there to inspire myself and hopefully others on how to keep on digging and exploring. In my case I am problem more of an archeologist dusting that the newborn explorer with a showel, either way it does not stop me from searching. I keep digging, refining and curiously listening to the clues I get. One perks in my job is own I get to meet like-minded, courageous people in workshops. I run workshops where I play with Lego. It is more serious than it sounds (LEGO SERIOUS PLAY) and there is a method to the madness, but in short what we do is we take a day to explore who we are, beyond the facade, and we use bricks to help us express the inexpressible. The biggest thing that leaves me after those sessions is that we all struggle to find out, but…I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Building a brand isn't as hard as it seems. In fact, it's actually pretty easy if you follow the steps outlined below:
Be willing to be different
If you're going to build a brand, you have to be willing to stand out from the crowd and do things differently than everyone else. This doesn't mean doing something crazy just for the sake of being different; it means taking an honest look at how you operate and making sure that your methods are in line with your goals--and then going beyond them if necessary.
Differentiation is key when it comes time for customers (or potential clients) to choose between competing brands; if they can't tell what makes one better than another, they'll simply go with whoever has been around longer or seems more familiar-which often means their default option rather than anything specific about either company's offerings or strategies. That is important to keep in mind especially in times like these where fear seams to be pushing visionary leaders back into their comfort zones!
Find your authentic voice
So, what is your authentic voice?
It's the way you talk and write when no one else is around. It's the way you express yourself when you're alone with your thoughts--the same way I'm talking to myself right now as I write this article, trying desperately not to sound like a robot or some kind of artificial intelligence (AI).
What do most people do when they're alone with their thoughts? They think about what they want out of life and then decide how they can get those things--and more importantly, who they need help from in order to achieve those goals. The more specific their plans become, the clearer their vision becomes; soon enough, these people start taking action towards making those dreams come true!
They also find ways of communicating this vision so that others will understand how important it is for everyone involved--and because of this genuine passion for getting things done together towards common goals within organizations such as companies or governments where some people may lack enthusiasm about certain tasks due either lack knowledge/experience required or just plain disinterests altogether."
Be courageous
Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear.
The only way to do great work is to love what you do. And if you haven't found it yet, keep looking until you do. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find your true passion because it will make everything else in life better--even your health!
But if you're not sure where to start, ask yourself these questions: What do I love? What inspires me? How can I make a difference in the world?
Know your audience and how to connect with them
Know your audience.
Be authentic.
Be a good listener and ask questions when you don't understand something, instead of pretending like you do.
Don't be afraid to admit when you make mistakes or don't know something--it makes people trust and respect you more (and it's also good practice for those times when it really matters).
Stick out from the crowd by focusing on substance, not just style.
You're not going to stand out by playing it safe. You need to be bold, unique and different if you want people to notice you. Don't be afraid of being different or standing out from the crowd because this is what will make your brand memorable in their minds.
In fact, being an individual isn't just about being different but also about having substance and depth of knowledge behind what makes up who you are as an artist or businessperson--what sets apart from everyone else? Why should anyone pay attention?
If you do these things and stay true to yourself, you'll build a brand people want to work with.
Building a brand is not easy and it's certainly not something that can be done overnight. But if you're willing to put in the work, stay true to yourself and find your unique voice, then you'll be well on your way to building a brand people want to work with. Oh one more thing, don't worry if the clients aren't lining up right away- the price you might pay for being you- (at least if you choose to be a rebel) they will! And if they for whatever reason don't, you can always tend to your garden and wait for better days ahead!
